The Johnson County Historical Society Museum is home to the Society’s more than 10,000 historic artifacts that portray the diverse and vibrant heritage of the county, from the Meskwaki tribe and early settlers to contemporary times. The Community Room is available for event rentals.

Kathy Fait presents her collected research on Oakdale Sanatorium. Learn about the history of medical knowledge and care in the 20th century. Specifically, as it applies to tuberculosis---a leading cause of death for the past 100+ years. Our presenter will touch on the history of Oakdale Sanatorium, the history of TB and its care, and the Oakdale community which was built around the care of TB patients. Date may change.
